Road and culvert to be removed from stream and wetland
Project Description:
This project will restore and enhance up to 1 acre of land through 4 separate activities within the approximately 274-acre Hansen Pond property owned by Three Rivers Land Trust (3RLT). The Hansen Pond property was conserved by 3RLT in 2018 with MNRCP support. The Project will include: 1) removal of a culvert on a logging road to restore natural wetland flow between two larger wetland systems; 2) restoration of natural wetland flow through removal of fill material at an existing logging road crossing; 3) enhancement of the upland buffer around Hansen Pond at the site of an old structure, including native plantings, placement of woody debris, and restrictions on recreational use; and 4) enhancement of stream, pond, and wetland buffers through the placement of boulder blockades at multiple locations to prevent ATV access.
