Photo of emergent wetlands on the Pump Box Brook property
Project Description:
This project conserved approximately 78 acres of land including freshwater forested wetland, freshwater scrub-shrub wetland, freshwater emergent wetland, and upland buffer. The site includes approximately 1,200 feet of Pump Box Brook, as well as another approximately 400 feet of smaller tributary streams. The wetlands associated with Pump Box Brook are mapped Inland Waterfowl and Wading Bird Habitat and there is a great blue heron rookery located within an emergent freshwater marsh. The property is within the Mousam River Watershed, and Pump Box Brook feeds to the Mousam. The site has at least one potential vernal pool. The property abuts conservation land to the northwest which is also conserved by Three Rivers Land Trust.
