Project Description

This Project conserved approximately 22 acres of wetland and upland habitats across 3 properties in a Beginning with Habitat Focus Area of Statewide Ecological Significance (Perley Pond Peatland). The properties include freshwater forested, scrub-shrub, and emergent wetlands, as well as upland forests. Two of the properties include frontage on the Northwest River to the east, which contains a state-mapped high quality Unpatterned Fen Ecosystem. The newly conserved parcels include mapped Inland Waterfowl and Wading Bird Habitat and Wild Brook Trout Habitat. The Tiger Hill Community Forest, which is owned and managed by Loon Echo Land Trust and was previously protected using MNRCP funds, is located across the Northwest River from the properties. The project was supported by the Town of Sebago and the Portland Water District.
