Project Description:
This project conserved 17.6 acres of land including: approximately 15.3 acres of freshwater scrub-shrub and forested wetlands; approximately 486 feet of frontage on the tributary from Little Pond to the Crooked River, which is mapped Wild Brook Trout Habitat; 1,447 feet of undeveloped shoreline on Little Pond; 0.2 acres of lacustrine (pond) wetland; and forested upland buffer. The site is also mapped as potential habitat for Wood Turtle which is a species of Special Concern in Maine. Most of the land is part of an approximately 174-acre Undeveloped Habitat Block identified by the Beginning With Habitat Program. The western side of the site abuts conservation land already owned by WFLT. WFLT is also working to acquire an additional lot using MNRCP funds located to the north that abuts the Project across Harrison Road, which is hydrologically connected by the previously-mentioned tributary stream (see the 2021 Twin Bridges - Cummings project). WFLT will retain and manage the Premises for its natural resource values and low-impact recreation.
