High quality Hemlock Forest along Kezar River, photo by Maine Natural Areas Program
Project Description:
This project conserved approximately 30.1 acres of land including: approximately 14.7 acres of freshwater forested and scrub-shrub wetlands; frontage on the Kezar River and Patterson Brook, both of which are mapped as Wild Brook Trout habitat, as well as an unnamed perennial stream; mapped Deer Wintering Habitat; a late successional stand of Eastern Hemlock Forest mapped as exemplary by the Maine Natural Areas Program; one confirmed vernal pool; and upland forest. The site is located within a GLLT conservation focus area, and abuts existing conservation land on its north (see 2021 Kezar Corridor - Anglo Celtic MNRCP project) and west sides (Maine Woodland Owners land). GLLT will retain and manage the Premises for its natural resource values and low-impact recreation.
